This is a personal account of my experience in ushering God’s power into the lives of others through the gospel. During the first half of this year, I was living with a Vietnamese family. Given the cultural differences and language barrier, it was difficult to communicate with them. Even through it was difficult, God had granted me wisdom and compassion to identify areas that I could bless them with. There was a period where the child of this particular family would get up in the middle of the night screaming and crying for no apparent reasons. It was initially disturbing to find out that the child was healthy during that period of time. The parents would express their distress to me over these disturbances that would happen every night in that particular week.

After seeking the Lord and my leaders in church, we felt that it was an unclean spirit that was affecting the child. Initially I wanted to stay out of the house for the next few nights and hope that all these disturbances would clear off in the next few days, however the Lord prompted me not to run away but to stay to intercede and share the saving power of Christ to the family.

I obeyed the prompting from the Lord to stay and intercede for the family. I had the opportunity to share the gospel with the parents. I was glad that the parents were willing to allow me to pray over their child. It was amazing to see that from that day onwards, he got better and better and not long after, the child was able to sleep through the night peacefully. This was an open door for me to help them identify that God’s power is real and that they too can experience his fullness of grace and protection. Weeks later, I passed to the mother a Vietnamese translated bible and I was really glad that she received it with much excitement to learn more about God can do in her life. Because of my decision to place my obedience to God over my fears, this family who was once lost is now able to experience God’s power and goodness.

Brothers and sisters, I believe that each and every one of us are called to a very special cause not just to merely share the gospel but to also to usher the power of God into the lives of those who don’t know Him

“God moves in power, in signs and wonders- healing the sick, in deliverances, multiplying food for the hungry, raising the dead- primarily for this reason: He is good! And it is His desire to reveal His goodness- His glory- in all the earth.’’ Randy Clark, There is more! : The Secret to Experiencing God’s Power to Change Your Life
