Happy Australia Day everyone!
I really thank God for giving me the opportunity to call Australia as home. He was the one who brought me here in July 2009 to study Master of Professional Accounting & MBA, and eventually receiving my Australian Permanent Residency (PR) in 2013. Never in my wildest dream did I ever think of migrating to another country, as I have a big loving family in Malaysia and my life was great.
I guess we can make our own plans, but it is God who determines our steps (Proverbs 16:9). After finishing my Master’s degree in 2012, I was not sure whether I should apply for PR in Australia since I missed my family a lot. God has indeed blessed me in many ways ever since I came over, and I thank Him for giving me breakthroughs in every part of my life: spiritual, emotional, physical and even mental breakthroughs. Those were what I prayed for before I left Malaysia.
I was ready to go back home after finishing my studies, but in September 2012 God instructed me to stay in Australia. I cried and asked God, “Father, do You really want me to stay here without my family?” I was seeking for His plan and will in my life, and eventually I made the decision to seek His Kingdom first and forgo my own plans and desires.
Since I made that decision, God has been opening doors for me. I managed to achieve good results in my IELTS exam, applied for PR on 12th December 2012, and best of all I got my PR one day before my birthday in February 2013. This was the best present ever in my life! It was not because of getting the PR, but rather how much God showed me His love and care. Sometimes I tell my friends that God even changed the immigration rules so that I could apply. Thus nothing is impossible to our Heavenly Father.
Matthew 6:32-34 says, “For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things, for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
2013 has been the best year in my life so far. At the beginning of the year, God directed me to lead the Willawong Children’s Ministry, then I received my PR, a promotion at work, and best of all a group of brothers and sisters whom I could call “my family”. I have loved every moment of my journey here, especially with God and His people. Our Heavenly Father does know the perfect plan for us, even though we may not know it.
