I want to testify God’s provision in our Vietnam oral health mission trip, which will take place in the first week of 2014.

At the beginning of 2013, a few of us came together and formed a new group, “Joseph 6”, in the new working adults service (later became Elevate S6). Our leader challenged us to take a step of faith and join this short-term mission trip.

At that point of time, I thought mission was only for people called to be missionaries, and my role was just to stay in Brisbane and support them in the background. Yet Pastor Julian’s peaching at Oceania Convention 2013 had completely changed my heart for missions. It was almost like an instant 180 degrees change of mind, and I began to look forward to joining the mission team. However, I did not have the finance to do so. Moreover, during that time, a few family crises arose in Hong Kong, and I had to travel back for a short period of time, which really stretched my financial situation. Nonetheless, when I was asked to confirm if I was joining the mission team, I decided to say “Yes” in faith, believing that God will somehow provide.

A few months passed, and I managed to save up to about half of the airfare to Vietnam. We started to plan for our fundraising to cover all the expenses related to the trip, including dental supplies, etc. I began sending messages all around via all sorts of channels. Initially, there was very little response, but later on donations just kept coming in, even up til this day as I am writing this testimony! Moreover, in the process my mother also very generously provided for my air tickets to Vietnam, Hong Kong, back to Brisbane, and the fees for travel insurance. This was totally out of my expectation! At that point, I just really wanted to shout out loud, “Thank You, God!” It was such a great evidence of God’s provision through people around us as we go and carry His name to ALL nations.

Finally, I just want to encourage all of us that in times of need, God will always provide. As long as you rely on and trust in Him, you will be surprised by our Heavenly Father.

Matthew 7: 9-12, “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.”

We have been notified recently that the Vietnamese Government has increased the number of children we would be educating on oral health from 1,000 to 2,000. This means that we will need double the supplies. Therefore we are still in need of more donations to make this mission trip a fruitful one. Please do not hesitate to give towards this mission project, and be part of God’s Great Commission throughout the world. God bless.
