Going on missions is something that I used to hear and see since young when my parents took me to church. Through all the stories of different men and women, I plan to go on a mission trip one day and to really experience what it means to be a missionary out there in the field. A mission’s trip opportunity came during my second year of university and I decided to seize it by joining the team that is going to Cambodia and all it takes is this one mission trip to really help me understand more of how true humility, true humbleness and a true and sincere heart that love God works.

Throughout the whole mission trip, we were quite involved in sowing into the Cambodian community especially through little children. We participated in a building project for an education center where it serves as an avenue to share God’s love to the little ones through means of English education. Although we could not see the complete structure come to pass, I am glad that we participated in building a solid foundation for that, a solid foundation towards something greater. We also organized a children’s program where we get to see how God moved so amazingly through different ways. During the first day of the children’s program, only 20 kids were present, the whole team then joined in prayer after that and the next day, 80 kids turned up and the whole team gave their all to the kids, helping each and every single one of them with our very best, to get to know more about who Jesus is. In Acts 20:35 it says, it is more blessed to give than to receive. This verse in the Bible brings so much more sense throughout this mission trip because true giving comes from the love of God that compels that will automatically resonate from the heart.

I went to Cambodia, praying to God to use me as a vessel of His blessings, but at the end of the day, it was me who has been blessed. Blessed with a different perspective of live, a different perspective of how God’s love works, a greater heart of compassion for the people out there who have yet to have known Christ, and also a refreshed view of my relationship with God. People need Jesus, they really do, if not, its only going to be endless striving towards the last days of our life on earth, but with Jesus, were striving towards something that we might not be able to see now, but it is towards something greater – Eternity.

Even in a different country, I get to see how God moved so greatly. What more in my own country? In where I am placed currently? Friends, we are called to be marathon runners for Christ in this race of life, no matter what, let us be a generation of people who would rise up and run towards to the call that God has laid in our hearts and SHINE as how Jesus has taught us to in Matthew 5:14 so that we could bring His people, a step closer to Him.

Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus- Philippians 3:13-14
