The total of 60 campers, aged between 12 to 25, arrived early morning on the 6th of July at Koonjewarre Activity Center Springbrook for a weekend of fun, fellowship and seeking God. The weekend started with a bit of a shocker to most because of how many young first-timers we had at youth camp. Our campers were greeted by our welcoming registration team and quickly settled into thier rooms. Ablaze camp 2019 was then kicked off with a welcoming address and orientation delivered by camp director Darren Scott and the camp organising committee (Adam Khoo, Cara Pang, Eric Lin, Jien-Li Tan and Rashaun Hoh), and was focused on this year’s theme “Generations.” Prominence was placed on the importance of discipling the next generation.

Our campers had a blast gathering into teams and coming up with a short team chant. Later that afternoon, campers had the opportunity to participate in one of three creative workshops:Sports Art or Dance. We started off our Saturday night session with a special choir performance, followed by a time of praise and worship. Lisa Leung preached a challenging life changing sermon that evening.

We began Sunday with morning devotions, whereby our campers had some time to reflect and digest what God has been writing on thier hearts. The campers then gathered for our exciting morning session. Jien-Li preached on seeking God which spured the campers to seek God with greater fervency. Our games team spent months preparing for a few great games for our campers but unfortunately, the weather as unfavourable for us to play in the fields. We had to move our games indoors but nonetheless had a great time of teambuilding and action.

On Sunday evening we had an awards ceremony to reward the winning team while the losing teams faced a fun “punishment”. We moved into a time of extended praise and worship where we spent time soaking in God’s presence. Pastor Torch preached up a storm and led us into a time of prayer. He then prayed over leaders, who in turn, prayed for others.

The last day of camp was no less exciting than the previous days. Campers had the option of attending evangelism, descipleship or leadership workshops. Departure on Monday afternoon was characterized by mixed feelings: sadness on one hand because all were going to miss the great time we had over the weekend, but found joy in knowing that we finished off the week so much stronger than we started. The Holy Spirit led to some amazing connections between the youth as well as leaders.

When all is said and done, God moved mightily. We had 5 people recieve salvation and many rededicated themselves to God. Praise be to God for everything and all the Glory goes to Him!
