During my first week of university studies, a classmate boldly came up to me and invited me to a games night at her lifegroup. I was a non-Christian back then, and did not really know what church and lifegroup were about. I had a really good time at the games night and met many nice people there. After that I was invited to attend their weekly lifegroup and church. At that time, I had not accepted Christ yet, and I was just curious to know what church was about and who Jesus was. After several months of attending Hope Church, I decided to accept Christ into my life as my personal Saviour. I will never forget the night I felt the Holy Spirit pour over me and the indescribable love I felt. I knew then that there had to be a God.
His love, mercy, forgiveness and grace are never ending and had touched my life abundantly. I used to be very independent and only relied on my own strength. Nowadays, I place everything before Him and seek His guidance and strength. Over the years I have faced many challenges, but after all that I have experienced, all I can say is the Lord is truly good.
Even to this day, I am really thankful to that classmate who invited me to her lifegroup event. We did not really know each other then, but she had the courage to ask me and I believe she knew it was an opportunity to impact others. If she had not asked me, I wonder if I would ever come to know God. I cannot imagine a life without Jesus now.
In the Bible, God has instructed us to spread His Word throughout the land. We have a chance to bring others to Him by sharing the Gospel, inviting them to lifegroup and church. Like my own story, sometimes it might only require that one person to take the initiative to invite us to Jesus. We can be afraid or worried of what others may think when we share our faith, but God has promised He will be with us always. Be bold and have courage when there is a God-given opportunity to bring someone to Jesus.
Isaiah 41:10, “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”
