Upon completing the pre-marital CDS, which was followed by the counselling sessions, we discovered that childbearing might be a challenge for us. And to hear that some couples (friends and colleagues) have tried so hard without any success, created a doubt in our heart that childbearing may not be for us. Trying to fight the doubts, we sought an audience with Doctor Google (numerous times actually), spoke to different couples and discussed openly about how to increase our chances for childbearing; from eating healthy and ‘organic’ food, going to gym to stay fit and healthy, using ovulation calendar, taking various supplements, exploring IVF to adoption. But we both agreed that if we could not bear a child naturally after a period of time, we would adopt a cute and fat baby from some far far away kingdom.
It was great in the beginning but having no success after few months, we grew tired of trying. We were so consumed with childbearing we forgot to enjoy each other’s company and our love for each other. We got caught up with eating healthy food, going to gym almost everyday, taking supplements after meals, carefully watching the ovulation calendar and etc. To make matter worse, we actually forgot to include God in our relationship.
So we came back to God, repented and asked for His covering, intervention and blessing. We prayed that His will be done in our life because we know there’s nothing we can achieve without His permission and blessing. It was a huge relief to have such revelation. It helped us to see marriage life in a better perspective. It also helped us during the tough first trimester, especially when we discovered that we’re about to be future parents through the threatened miscarriage. Our prayer at that time was (and still is) for His will be done and that we’ll gladly accept the outcome and will praise His name for the chance of being able to fall pregnant.
Our yet-to-be-born baby is 32 weeks old in the womb right now and we can’t wait for her arrival. We don’t know what the future holds but we know who holds the future, it is God Almighty. If you’re reading this and trying to fall pregnant, our encouragement to you is to learn to just enjoy each other’s love and company and above all, include God in your relationship for He is our Lord and He knows what’s best for you two. For those who want to get married, join the pre-marital CDS. It’s good!
A verse that we hold dearly in our heart and to encourage you all is from Jeremiah 29:11-13 “For I know the plans I have for you, “ declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, pans to give you a hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”
