Love always makes a way!

It is amazing how a gift of food hamper paves a way to meet both a practical need and a connection point to the love of Christ.

In 2017, Hands of Hope received over 1,200 toys, toiletries, and food items packed as Christmas Hampers from all service centres in Brisbane, Ipswich and Gold Coast. Your generosity enabled Hands of Hope staff and volunteers to distribute 81 hampers to people in need in our community through 4 external social agencies. The breath of community we managed to touch included the elderly, refugee families, people who are homeless or with disabilities.

The number of food hampers and toys represent many untold lives being impacted because of your commitment to bring love and hope of Christ into impossible situations. It makes all the hard work that everyone pours into ensuring no one misses out so worth it!

There were also many stories of gratitude from a single mum with seven kids who is in a season of financial stretch preparing to tell her kids that they may not be getting presents at Christmas to a few elderly people living alone on a pension who received lovely Christmas treats in their hampers. The standard responses from many were just amazement that total strangers would care enough to have them in their thoughts and hearts.

“From all of us here at Family Steps, we would like to express how grateful we are for the kind generosity of the people who have donated all the wonderful items we have received in support of making Christmas for the families we work with, a more joyous and less stressful one.” – Debbie Jones, Team Leader of Family Steps Family Intervention Services.

Christmas Hampers project continues to grow each year and the logistics of this project requires a huge team to make it happen. We are grateful for all our church staff and many volunteers who helped to make this possible.

We are looking forward working together with everyone in Hope Church to reach out to more families in 2018! Love always make a way.
