Since the start of 2019, Kids for Christ ministry have intentionally included a love offering time into the weekly program, so that it gives children the opportunity to give to God.
Our purpose of doing this is to encourage our children (from a young age), to understand what it means about giving to God. For some of the older kids, we explain what is love offering, and what is the money used for. We even challenged them to set aside some pocket money they get and give that to God. We have asked parents to take this opportunity to explain to their child (especially the younger ones) about giving unto God, and helping them to understand why we give to God.
Here are a few pointers if you are a parent
1. God created everything and so everything belongs to Him.
2. We give out of obedience because the Bible teaches us so
3. By bringing an offering to God, we honour God
4. Giving also shows our love for God; God has given us His son, giving to God some money, gives us a chance to thank God.
In our tiny tots group, one of the feedback from the teachers is that they have seen that many of the children are keen to give something to God whenever we pass the bag around. However, when they realized that they do not have something on them, there is a sense of disappointment on their face. So the teachers have encouraged them to blow a kiss into the offering bags, which some of them loved. God would have seen and received these kisses as well.
Pray along with the KFC ministry team that we can continue to bring a godly influence to the children, and that we can help this next generation to grow in the ways of God.
2 Corinthians 9:6-7 – 6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
