My Christian journey only started at the end of last year so I consider myself a baby Christian and still learning a lot about God. I am excited to share my testimony particularly in the area of experiencing God’s protection in my life.

To be honest, I am not really self-disciplined in studying the Bible or praying and at times felt guilty that I did not make an effort to know God more. I also felt that I wasn’t deserving of my prayers being answered because I realised just how sinful I am – selfish, careless, impatient, double-minded, proud and so on. However, God has been merciful to me and has helped me in my journey as a Christian. He has even answered many of my prayers and I have experienced his amazing protection over me and my family.

There was one particular incident that happened in January this year. Apparently my QQ account (similar to Skype) had been hacked into and that person pretended to be me and was chatting online with my mum. They asked her to send $10,000 which was to be deposited into the bank account they sent her. Seeing that the message was coming from my account, my mum believed it was me and simply thought the bank account given was my friend’s account. My mum actually went to the bank and was going to transfer that money over, however, when she arrived at the teller, there was a technical issue with the machine and so the deposit process had to be delayed. Fortunately around the same time, I realised my QQ account had been hacked into. I called my mum straight away to let her know and she told me what had happened. I was so shocked that they could do such a thing and so was my mum. If I had called 5 minutes later, the money would have been sent to these people. I remember that this happened on a Sunday and that morning I prayed that God will protect my mum. I thank God that the machine wasn’t working at that time and for protecting my Mum from this fraud.

This is just one incident of experiencing God’s protection but there have been countless times of His protection over my life. I know He is always watching over me and my family because I’ve experienced it firsthand. Plus, His Word confirms it and encourages me to trust Him and continue on this journey with Him. In Proverbs 2:8 it says, “For he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones.” And also in 2 Thessalonians 3:3 it says, “But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.”
