I was not a Christian before I joined a life group. Initially, I attended church service because the people in my life group are nice to me. However, as I am not from a Christian family and was not desperately in need of a miracle, I kept asking myself “Is it worth it to follow Jesus? Is Jesus the real God?” and I found the answer in the Bible. In the Bible, Jesus has been the greatest demonstration, and I think everyone should follow and demonstrate Christ-likeness. I think, with that, the world would be a better place to live in.
Some of my favouriteverses are Ephesians 2:8-10, “For by grace you have been savedthrough faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” Through Him, we learn to humble ourselves, welearn how to give out without expecting any rewards. He does not just teach us what we should do; He set an example by his action. He sacrificed His life for us without asking us for anything in return. His words and actions have touched me deeply.
Anger and bitterness have been an issue in my life, and it was hard to let go of them. But God tells us not to hold a grudge against each other; putting away all bitterness and wrath. The Bible tells us the story of Joseph who was hated by his brothers and was soldas a slave. But Joseph bore no grudge to his brother and said to them: “Don’t be afraid. Am I in the place ofGod? You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” (Genesis 50:19-20) Joseph forgave his brothers after what they had done to him, maybewe should learn how to let go and forgive each other as well.
I also came to understand that He does not neglect any of His children. He has shown us His kindness and wisdom, and I feel peace in His presence. The inner peace that was so rare and unusual in my life, but He gives me peace through His immeasurable love. So, I decided to take the next step of walking with Him.
I believe He is always there with me from the beginning. He is the one who builds our character and who shapes me into what I am now. I know He has been guiding me and walking me through all sorts of challenges; giving me the personality to be grateful and appreciate small things in life and the character to love and show sympathy to other people. He helped me when I was lost, guided me with His love and wisdom, listening to my repentance, fulfilling what I have been praying for. I believe that God’s words will direct us to do the right thing and make the world a better place.
