During these past couple of weeks, it has been amazing to see how God provided and healed those around me. I have a friend who was having some problems with his health and it was causing severe headaches, making it difficult to study during the busy period. He sent me a message and said that he would appreciate some prayers and revealed to me that he went to the doctors three times that week. I started to get worried when he told me they found an ear infection that could potentially reach the brain. I let the guys from lifegroup know about the situation and asked them to pray in this difficult time for him. On Sunday, he decided to come to church and after service the guys came up to him and we all prayed for him. At that time, he was struggling to hear since one ear was not hearing properly. However, a couple of days later, the infection was cut out with no damage, and within a couple of weeks, he was able to hear properly again! That was just one testimony of a recent healing.
Another one happened shortly after with my sister. Interestingly, it happened after the church service where Pastor Lai Ling prayed for healing for people with health problems. That night, she was telling me that at her church they were having a healing session, and she decided she should pray for her legs. Even though this was not a critical issue, she said that for years she has had a bad walking stance and after receiving prayer, it was the first time she has walked straight since she could remember. I recall my father praying for his eyesight and God healed him. Although this kind of healings are not life or death situations, each time I hear about them, I am encouraged by the fact that God does not heal only in extreme situations but in every situation. My father was using glasses for everything before God healed his eyesight.
One Scripture I am reminded of by these testimonies is in Mark 16:17-18, “And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”
Not that I want to encourage everyone to drink deadly poison and test their faith, but this passage really shows that as Christians, we have a lot more power, through Jesus, than perhaps many of us think we do. Through sincere faith, God can heal anyone and we should look to Him for healing even if it appears small in our minds. We can use these healings as a testimony of our faith to encourage those around us. These may be testimonies of physical healings, but healings can happen in mental and spiritual forms as well, for God is the great Healer and Restorer. Let us look to Him when healing is needed!
