We are fast approaching the conclusion of 2017 and entering a new year. I have always found it helpful to have the attitude that a new year should be grasped as a fresh opportunity to do things better. Whatever successes we have had in 2017 can be used as a foundation for better in 2018. Whatever we failed to do well in 2017 can be approached with a fresh vigour and fresh approach in order to do better in 2018.
Paul had this attitude as he expressed in Philippians 3:13-14 (NIV) 13 Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
We intend to approach 2018 with that attitude as a church. Because I truly believe God has a great destiny for us. Yet it is important that we continually move forward to lay claim upon His promises. I will share on some of these specifically in the coming Vision Sunday in mid-Feb.
May I encourage you to approach 2018 with that attitude as well. Let your successes in 2017 encourage you. Let your inadequacies in 2017 spur you to aim for better in 2018. I am certain God has other chasms for you to overcome and crossover in 2018. Our prayers are with you as you enter the new year. That you may encounter the God of your destiny in a greater way and His rich blessings overflow in your lives.
With much love and anticipation of the new year,
Ps. Wilson Lim
