We had a vacation day camp with Scripture Union (SU) QLD during the Spring School holidays, from 27th to 29th September. It was a three-day sports camp, with children from Grades 2 to 6 participating. The theme was “Dream Team – Together Everyone Achieves More.”

This is the second year that we have worked with chaplains from schools around the Inala area. This year, there were about 40 children who joined us for the camp. We gathered the children together to play different kinds of sports – such as noodle hockey, captain’s ball, soccer, touch footy, laser tag, and also our very own version of “Ninja Warrior.” The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves – sweating it out, and learning from one another. Even our little ones (grades 2 & 3) had a go at the different sports.

In the morning, we included some spiritual element to the children’s day. We had praise and worship and Bible lessons. The praise and worship session was led by our Ablaze (Youth) and Kids For Christ (KFC) team. The children, and even the volunteers, thoroughly enjoyed those times and were blessed. We taught about how we can run the race of life, and trusting God to be there to help us. The children – including some of the un-churched children – responded well. Please do pray with us, that the seeds sown into the children’s hearts will grow and that there will be a desire to want to go to church to find out more about God.

On the third and final day of the camp, we had an award celebration for all the children. We also invited the parents to join us for the award-giving session, as well as afternoon tea. It was a wonderful time connecting with the parents and hearing from the children how much fun they had over the three days.

We praise and thank God for the great three-day sports camp – and for the fact that despite the hot weather during that week, the children and volunteers did not complain whatsoever, and that everyone was very patient with one another. And, we want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their prayers and support – especially all the volunteers who have selflessly helped out during this Sports Camp.
