During a recent trip to Hawaii, while visiting Pearl Harbour, there appeared a double rainbow in the sky, an unusual sight. I was reminded of the covenant and promises of the all-knowing God who never change. He cares for me and knows my needs. I am very grateful for God sending His only son, Jesus, to die for me and set me free from the shackles of life on earth.

Since young, I always knew there is a God who controls everything, but was unable to get close to this God until I became a Christ follower. He is Holy and all-knowing. I remember my first answered prayer after accepting Christ as my Saviour was not to do night duty as a nurse in the hospital. He provided a place without night-duty for me to work. Not only that, this workplace did not open on Sunday, so I was able to attend church every Sunday.

Before Jesus came into my life, I had many worries and concerns about my future. I was anxious all the time. After I get to know Him, I can put my trust in Him. I do not have to go to a certain place to meet this God, or fellowship with Him; or do ritual to get what I need. Jesus is with me all the time once I accept Him as my Lord and Saviour. He knows what I need, what I am going through before I even mention it. I have peace when I put my trust in Him. I feel privileged to have someone to lean on when face with life’s challenges. I am able to ask God for wisdom to deal with difficult situations, protection, guidance and more. He is full of grace and love that He will listen and help me through. For me, it is a great partnership to be able to have Jesus by my side ALL the time. Romans 8:3b, “If God is for us, who can be against us. I’m reminded of this verse in the Bible”. Nahum 1:7, “The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in Him.”

I was reminded of the time when the government was asking health care workers to voluntarily take up redundancy packages. God has turned this undesirable situation to something that benefited me during that time. I was able to retire early with a very good package due to God’s timing instead of my own timing to retire. The approval of the package came when the new pay rate which was higher came into effect. God’s timing is perfect and He does not short-changed us. James 1:17, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not changed like shifting shadows.”
